OUR FOUNDERS

Jennifer and Michael Sparkman

We truly enjoy raising our livestock and living simply, teaching values and different ways of life to our children. Originally from the West Coast, we have called Kentucky home for these past 10 years. Gratitude daily with the blessings of family, farm, and connection with the life and the experiences we’ve having in.

OUR HISTORY

WHERE OUR NAME CAME FROM

In the spring of 2016 my husband and I moved to a very rural piece of land in beautiful southern Kentucky. We literally started from the ground up clearing our land and planning a dream that Yah (God) had put inside our hearts for some time to build our homestead and start a Set Apart breeding program.

One morning I was reading The Word God gave me the name and full vision of Our Shepherds Shepherds. We wanted to be set apart from all other breeders with our genetics and future pedigree goals and plans, by working hard to produce reliable and suitable Dutches for both working and non-working homes. We wanted to breed quality working dogs with the best genetics possible.

GETTING STARTED

THE FIRST DUTCH SHEPHERDS

After studying and conversing for four years with breeders overseas  we decided to go with working line Romanian and Holland  bloodlines . We saw excellent nerve and workability in the lineages we chose along with excellent calm downs and Shut offs.
We decided to import our first set of FCI Dutch Shepherds. We have been hooked on these lineages ever since – for both working and non working homes. We worked together from long distance overseas to pick each and every import to add to our selective breeding program and cannot be happier. Since several pairings and breedings we have created a fantastic all around, genetically sound dog Highly capable of any task or job from Tier 1 working dogs for police or military to family protection dogs and family companions we have produced several service dogs for vets and excellent scent dogs  – our owners are very satisfied with their Dutch Shepherds!

Our Dutch Shepherds, and Yah (God), have brought amazing people into our lives people we consider family.
RESEARCH, PROTECT and GROW

We poured years of research, development, and hardwork in selecting the best bloodlines we could find in the world and are so proud of what our OSS dogs have become and continue to achieve. We continue to improve, realign and refine our breeding program to support and promote this amazing working line and breed.

I’m Jennifer, the one behind everything! 

From raising puppies to dog training, Working and clients dog rearing, to photographer, video editor, and the one handling the business end of things, while being a mother of 5 children - life is hectic, to say the least!

ABOUT OUR FAMILY 

We homeschool & homestead. We do a lot of raising our own food and our Dutch’s food from gardening to raising sheep, ducks, chickens, and rabbits. We are really into preparedness and homesteading. We’re Yeshua followers.

ABOUT ME 

I'm a 3rd Dan black belt and enjoy teaching my children and clients home defense along with incorporating my skills in martial arts in protection dog training we offer. One way we do this is by using realistic scenarios rather than the standard scenarios practiced in most places. I’m also an artist and previous nurse and currently studying Hebrew and naturopathic medicine.

 

Meet Michael - COO, Decoy, Trainer, Kennel Master

MICHAEL SPARKMAN

Michael, my husband, is a Master dog trainer, Master welder, and carpenter by trade. He has an exceptional gift with animals and has been training dogs for 20 years specializing in working breeds and problematic dogs.

Michael started working with German Shepherds at 12 years old and was mentored by his uncle, a professional K9 trainer who raised and trained imported German Shepherds for the Catholic churches in California. Since then Michael’s love for training and working dogs has been his passion.

K9 PROTECTION TRAINING

He’s trained several protection dogs, some service dogs for military vets with PTSD and has been a mentor and support system to several military vets who are owners of our Dutches Michael has skills in street fighting and incorporates realistic street scenarios into protection or bite work training and offers tactical Dog training that is a huge advantage for handlers.

THE PERFECT PAIRING

Together we are an excellent team. We raise these beautiful working Dutch Shepherds and train locally and nationwide for clients.
